Honor the Woman You Once Were

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-19

There comes a sacred season in every woman’s life when she stops trying to erase who she was - and begins to honor her instead.

For too long, we’ve been told to move on, to “let it go,” to bury the chapters that made us blush or break. But, my friend, those early versions of us - the unsure, the heartbroken, the forgiving, the faithful - they were not mistakes. They were makers.

They built the woman you are now.

And maybe it’s time to stop apologizing for her - and start thanking her.

The Early Version Was Brave

The woman you once were did the best she could with what she knew. She survived on courage, on prayer, on instinct. She made choices that made sense in the moment - some wise, some hard, some you’d rather forget. But she was fighting for her future self - you.

It’s easy to look back with criticism. It takes maturity to look back with compassion.

Because honor isn’t about perfection - it’s about perspective.
And when you honor who you were, healing begins to flow where shame once lived.

The Gift of Perspective

When I look back at my own story, I see the girl who dreamed too big for the box she was placed in. I see the young woman who said yes too often and the leader who tried to carry everyone but herself.

And yet, I smile.

Because that woman - the one who cried in her car, the one who kept showing up, the one who prayed for peace she couldn’t yet feel - she’s the reason I stand here now with wisdom that money can’t buy.

Honor is not about revisiting your pain - it’s about respecting your progress.

The Sacred Work of Remembering

When we stop judging our past, we start integrating it.
When we stop hiding our story, we start healing generations.

Your children and grandchildren don’t need to see a perfect woman - they need to see a whole one. The kind who can say, “Yes, I fell. But I got back up.”

When you honor the woman you once were, you show them how to honor the women they’re still becoming.
That’s legacy in motion.

Inside HER Life Legacy™, I teach women that honor is the foundation of everything else - education, forgiveness, generosity, and financial freedom.

When you honor your story, you unlock your purpose.
When you honor your beginnings, you reclaim your belonging.
And when you honor your truth, you rise into leadership that no title can define.

This isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about newness - the “new thing” God is doing in and through you.

So, take a moment today to whisper gratitude to the woman you once were.
She walked so you could soar.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing.” ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
